What makes Lacuna Lofts so special and worthy of a trip to Chicago in itself? If you appreciate art like I do, allow me to show you.
I first learned about this artistic space following one of my favorite street art talents on Instagram. Wrdsmth, originally from Chicago, crafted several inspiring pieces at Lacuna Lofts. This alone made a trip to Chicago imminent. Hats off to Lanee Lee for stalking this fascinating guy and sharing his world with us (I only wish I had been the stalker) - http://huff.to/1oVdQE8
The moment I spied the structure I was hypnotized, even in the dismal splatters of rain. The rooftop patches of color immediately draw you in, allowing your mind to wonder what awaits you. My feet finally decided to make more progress towards the building, and once inside, I was oohing and aahing like it was the 4th of July.
Lacuna Lofts is spacious and fetching, offering commercial studio space for rent with oodles of perks. In addition, Lacuna is sought-after for wedding receptions and other events. To learn more, check out their Facebook page.

Here's a preview of the artsy side -
A typewriter never looked so stylish. Am I right?!
I look forward to more exploration at Lacuna Lofts, especially the rooftop. Wouldn't it be grand if they rented out apartments?
On my last full day in Detroit, my big adventure was going to be the Heidelberg Project. That is, until I pulled up a seat at MotorCity Wine Bar. My amazing bartender told me to check out Lincoln Street Art Park first. How did I not know about this? He said I could do both, and I accepted the challenge.
I traversed a couple of fetching neighborhoods, and when I reached my destination, was instantaneously awestruck. The collection of oddities in front of me was like nothing I had experienced before. I will let the photos do the talking from here.
Alas, it ended up being a cold, extremely blustery day, so the Heidelberg Project will have to wait until next time. Learn more about this fascinating sculpture park, and plan your own visit soon.

Due to the extreme heat and humidity during my visit to Omaha, I almost didn't make the trek to Hot Shops Art Center. I am SO glad I persevered, because I was immediately captivated.
Hot Shops is a visionary wonderment for art appreciators. The center will greet you with heaps of distinct, contemporary sculptures before you even step foot inside the door.
I had to cop a squat on one of the benches just to take it all in. Be sure to wander around the block, as you will find some engaging surprises.
Unfortunately, I didn't have time to attend an artist's event as planned; however, that will be a priority next time. To learn more about Hot Shops Art Center, visit http://www.hotshopsartcenter.com/
