I am a street art fanatic. I can't thank the artists enough for giving the world so much beauty. I take pleasure in the hunt up until I find what I'm looking for. Even better when I'm surprised along the way. I’m a late bloomer as a craft beer enthusiast and there’s no stopping me now. My style preferences are stouts and barrel-aged beers, although I have started to enjoy hazy IPAs.

PEACOCKS & MORE AT HOLLYWOOD FOREVER
I escaped winter and spent almost two glorious weeks in Los Angeles. One of my activities involved a day at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, which is a good resting place, even for the living. The grounds are utterly pristine, and you can take pleasure in being surrounded by palm trees.
I'm not ashamed to admit that one of the reasons I love spending time here is to hang out with peacocks, the beloved gatekeepers. These beautiful creatures strut their stuff like they own the place; however, will stop to pose for impromptu photo shoots.
A stunning area to cop a squat is near Johnny Ramone's grave, where you can watch nature in full swing. A picturesque scene awaits you including a lake, fountain, ducks, and fish. Johnny's grave was getting all spruced up with pretty new flowers when I arrived.
Free on-site parking and restrooms are available. If you prefer an official walking tour, you can sign up for one with film historian Karie Bible http://cemeterytour.com/.
Check out Hollywood Forever's website to learn about the cultural events they offer throughout the year. My future goal is to attend a concert or summer movie night. http://www.hollywoodforever.com/

An Unparalleled Experience With Nick Metropolis
One of the reasons I love wandering when I arrive in a city is because you never know what awaits you. While I have lived in Los Angeles and make frequent visits, there is always something new to uncover.
My trip was spent in four different areas and this encounter took place in West Hollywood. Approaching the corner of 1st and La Brea, I didn't know what to think when I saw a spectacular collection of goods spilling onto the sidewalk.
The only thought I had was to further investigate this peculiar site. I found so many unforgettable things to look at that my brain was on overload and I didn't know which way to turn.
One thing was certain - I was going to find the owner and have a chat. It was my lucky day because I did just that. It was an absolute pleasure to meet the one and only Nick Metropolis, proprietor of Nick Metropolis Collectable Furniture.
You instantly feel a connection with this man, because he is friendly, caring, and full of life. His business card has this phrase highlighted "Love is all there is." Evidence enough, right?
Nick has been in the business of collecting exclusive furniture and other wares for 20+ years. Many of his customers are from the film industry, and you may just spot something from his store in the next blockbuster.
I highly recommend paying a social call to this phenomenal place to find your own treasures and to meet the charismatic man himself.

Los Angeles - City of Angels

Downtown LA in the distance |
One of the things I love about L.A. is the food, so let's start with restaurants. I have some staples that I always go to, as well as discovering at least one new place on every visit. My regulars are Hugo's on Santa Monica Blvd., Swinger's on Beverly Blvd. and Lucky Devils on Hollywood Blvd. (wow, that's a lot of boulevards).

Tofu Saute and a Kir Royale at The Kitchen |
Swinger's is just what the name might imply, fun! It's a hip, old-school diner that goes above and beyond the typical diner menu. I sometimes just order from the plethora of tasty sides, or get the vegan wrap or tofu saute, which are to die for. Swinger's also has divine shakes and smoothies.

The outdoor area of El Cid restaurant |
I also really like Toast Bakery Cafe, Buddha's Belly, Sharky's Mexican Grill, Caffe Primo, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, El Cid for their flamenco dinner show, and The Kitchen. My wonderful discovery in February was Truly Vegan, also on Hollywood Blvd. This place is vegan heaven! I dined there on 3 occasions in the same week. Two of my fave dishes are the grilled lentil loaf and the protein salad. They also have delicious breakfast combos.
