Blind Whino, Art by HENSE

Before shot, courtesy of Indiegogo

I traveled to Washington, D.C. over the 4th of July weekend, namely to see the Foo Fighters perform at RFK Stadium. I was also bound and determined to find an abandoned, historic church painted and transformed into an art installation by Alex Brewer (aka HENSE).

I chose Sunday the 5th for this mission, which turned out to be the sunniest, warmest, most humid day. I should have taken the Metro; however, I traveled on foot, because it's the best way to explore a city.

I walked a few miles and was having difficulty locating the address. I asked a few people on the street if they knew where the "painted church" was on Delaware and no one had a clue.

I persevered, spotting a pop of color at a dead end street. I knew that had to be it, and my hot, tired self suddenly turned into Kris Kross.

Feast your eyes on these photos, and I'm confident you will agree my efforts were worth it!

If you would like to visit this magnificent structure, currently known as Blind Whino, the address is 700 Delaware Avenue SW.  http://www.blindwhino.org/
