Eclectic Venice, California

One neighborhood I never miss spending a couple of days in when I travel to California is Venice. You never know what is going to cross your path.

This area has it going on - people watching, Abbot Kinney, the beach/boardwalk, appetizing eats, and craft beer.

All five senses will be stimulated by the swarm of activity and it's best to just embrace it. I have spent an entire day on the boardwalk just taking it all in. Here are my recommendations for a brilliant time:

The Beach
This is a no-brainer, right?  Walk on the sand and frolic in the ocean. I can sit for hours just listening to the waves and dreaming.  If you are feeling adventurous, you can get surf lessons from Go Surf LA.

The Boardwalk
This is where the action is. Street performers, unusual shops and wares, bodybuilders strutting their stuff, and lots of other quirkiness. If walking doesn't excite you, there are bike, segway, skateboard and bodyboard rentals available.

Venice Ale House
The best place to indulge in some first-rate brews. Save room for food, because they also do that well. My favorite dishes include the =V= Wrap, =V= Un-Fries, Sauteed Veggies, and the Quinoa Bowl. Thank your lucky stars if you are able to snag a patio seat.

Cafe Gratitude Venice
I get excited when I find a Cafe Gratitude while traveling. This "chain" features healthy, organic food that is out of this world. I recommend Fortified, Pure, and Humble. You will leave feeling refreshed and grateful that you dined here:)

Street Art
Keep your eyes peeled at all times, because there is striking art everywhere!

Abbot Kinney Blvd
This renowned street will have shopaholics drooling due to an abundance of sundry boutiques. In addition, there are a number of galleries, restaurants and bars. GQ Magazine even named Abbot Kinney “The Coolest Block in America.”

Sunset
Stick around for mind-blowing sunsets. You will be swooning from beginning to end.

Love is in the air. Start planning your trip to the land of sun and fun.
