Take a trip to the National Mustard Museum

If you are a mustard fanatic like myself, you will be thrilled to know there is a museum dedicated to this must-have condiment!  It's called the National Mustard Museum and resides in Middleton, WI.  I was in mustard heaven when I took a tour and interviewed Mrs. Mustard, one of the curators.  The museum is an interactive playground for adults and children.

In my opinion,  mustard is more American than apple pie.  There are so many varietals and I like its versatility.  I make my own vinaigrette salad dressings and Mrs. Mustard gave me a brilliant idea; add mustard to the vinaigrette.  I used a chipotle mustard and it gave my dressing the perfect little kick.

Adult mustards!

The National Mustard Museum stocks more mustards than anyone else with 5,500 jars in the house from all 50 states and 70 countries.  In fact, there are about 450 different mustards that can be taste tested by visitors (I have my work cut out for me).  Tour groups are welcome and can be booked 7 days a week between the hours of 10am and 4pm.

Game of hoops anyone?
There is an exciting free event coming up at the National Mustard Museum on Saturday, August 3rd.  Get your palate ready for National Mustard Day!  The day's festivities include live music, mustard games, a rock climbing wall, free hot dogs, a visit from the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile, and of course loads of mustard. There will even be a "top dog hot dog topping contest."

Just think of the possibilities....
Without further ado, plan a visit to the National Mustard Museum in Middleton.  There is no admission fee and you can check out their entertaining website for further details.  I'm proud to share that the museum recently received a 4-star rating and Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor.
